Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 Keyboard Shortcuts

With the new version of Internet Explorer (which I have been using with no problem for the past 3-5 weeks on 5 computers) comes some new ways to use it. IE7 now features tabbed-browsing (yeah!) and these are the keyboard shortcuts to take full advantage of the new features:

CTRL+click (Open links in a new tab in the background)
CTRL+SHIFT+click (Open links in a new tab in the foreground)
CTRL+T (Open a new tab in the foreground)
ALT+ENTER (Open a new tab from the Address bar)
ALT+ENTER (Open a new tab from the search box)
CTRL+Q (Open Quick Tabs – thumbnail view)
CTRL+TAB/CTRL+SHIFT+TAB (Switch between tabs)
CTRL+n (n can be 1-8) (Switch to a specific tab number)
CTRL+9 (Switch to the last tab)
CTRL+W (Close current tab)
ALT+F4 (Close all tabs)
CTRL+ALT+F4 (Close other tabs)

PPT Keyboard Shortcuts

There are lots of great ways to work faster in PowerPoint (and all Office applications for that matter). Most everyone knows the basic keyboard shortcuts; copy, paste, duplicate slide, etc. But how about moving through action panes (F6) or move one word (Ctrl + Right Arrow).

Here is a reference this page on Microsoft for the complete listing of keyboard shortcuts, click here.

Simultaneously View & Edit Presentations

For final edits on a presentation I take advantage of dual monitors, with PowerPoint on one screen and the slideshow on the other. As I adjust elements I can see the updates immediately.

If you do not have a dual monitor setup, you can do something similar by running the presentation in a smaller window by holding down the CTRL key while clicking the SLIDE SHOW icon in the lower left. You can move back-and-forth between the slideshow and edits while seeing the updates immediately.
CTRL + Click to start show in window
